Tools of the Journey: Tools of the Journey: Ignatius thing Patron Saint of WYD

Tools of the Journey: Ignatius thing Who am I?

I am born in 1491 in a place called Guipuscoa, Spain

I am the youngest son of 13 children.

I was addicted to gambling and very contentious when I was young dreaming of fame, glory and winning the love of ladies.

I was courageous and served in the army at the age of 30.

I was struck by a cannon ball and wounded one leg, since then I walked with a limp for the rest of my life.

I read books about the life of Christ and saints during recovery and discovered a profound sense of peace and satisfaction through thinking about the saints. This marked the beginning of my conversion and my spiritual discernments of spirits.

I left for Jerusalem, on the way I stopped by at a Town called Manresa, and stayed in a cave outside the town for 10 months, spending hours each day in prayer and encountering God, this allowed me to see all creation in a new light and find God in all things.

I continued studies for priesthood in Spain and France, and was roommates with Francis Xavier and Peter Faber, we influenced each other a lot.

I became a priest and when to Rome with my companions, Peter Faber and James Lainez to serve the Pope. Later on with the permission of the Pope, together we formed a new order as the Company of Jesus, or the Society of Jesus on 22 April 1541, and I was elected as the superior.

Since then I worked amongst the poor and in hospitals, the society grew in numbers all over the world, and we established Jesuit schools and universities all over Europe.

I died on 31 July 1556, and was canonized by Pope Gregory XV in 1622.

Who am I?

I am Mother Teresa!

Just kidding

St. Ignatius of Loyola!!! “Few souls understand what God would accomplish in them if they were to abandon themselves unreservedly to Him and if they were to allow His grace to mould them accordingly”.

“Few souls understand what God would accomplish in them if they were to abandon themselves unreservedly to Him and if they were to allow His grace to mould them accordingly”. Poo of the earth: Reflective Debrief By itself, was your shape’s purpose recognisable? What might it symbolise for all shapes to come together to form ‘the world’? What treatment did your piece of poo have to undergo to fulfil its purpose in the grand design? How malleable (easy to mould) are you?

What is required for a person to be a saint? 1 minute patron sainthood Reflections on the two videos Based on the Poo game, is it important to become the ‘shape’ we were made to be? Why/why not? What do you visualize when you think of a saint? Why does the Catholic church recognise individuals as Saints? Would you want to be a saint? Are you afraid of being one? Why?

Prayer of Surrender- St. Ignatius EN EL NOMBRE DEL PADRE, DEL HIJO , DEL ESPIRITU SANTO. AMEN Take, O Lord, And receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will.

All that I am and all that I possess You have given me; I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will. Give me only Your love and Your grace; with these I will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more. Amen.
