The Capture by Kathryn Lasky Soren was only three weeks old when he was captured from his nest by other owls. He was taken to a prison in the canyons called St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls. While he was there, he teamed up with another owl, Gylfie. Together they resist being “moon blinked” and discover the true secrets of why they are at St. Aggies. The tow escape and team up with Twilight and Digger in search of their families and the Great Ga’Hoole Tree. This is a “good book” because it’s a fun-to-read fantasy novel about owls.

Cannibals by Cynthia Grant This comedy is a fun book. I liked it because it was an upbeat novel about a cheerleader who was a lot like me— facing everyday complications and problems. Just wait til you find out where the title comes from.

REM World by Rodman Philbrick Arthur perceives himself as being fat; so he orders a machine that will help him lose weight. After not following all the directions, he finds himself in another world and what he does there will affect that world and his. This is a good book because it’s about a kid that defeats his won fears, and helps everyone he meets.

Princess in Love by Meg Cabot Princess in Love is a good book. I can relate to some of the issues in it. It’s about a junior, Mia, who is dating a boy named Kenny, but she likes a boy named Michael even better. Micheal is Lily’s (Mia’s best friend) older brother. Lily doesn’t know that Mia likes Michael.. Mis struggles to keep this secret from Lily and especially from her boyfriend, Kenny.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer At the start of his second adventure, Artemis Fowl is at a boarding school in Ireland when he receives an urgent video from Russia. In it is a plea for help from a man who has been kidnapped by the Russian Mafia; a man who Artemis had thought he would never see again; a man he knew all to well: his beloved Father. As Artemis rushes to his rescue, he is stopped by a familiar nemesis, Captain Holly Short of the Leprechaun Fairy police. This time instead of battling the fairies, he will have to work side by side with them. It is the only way to save the one person in the whole would who loves him.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is an excellent book. The book is the fourth Harry Potter book in the series. Without telling what happens to Harry while going to Hogwarts, I will say what the book is about. This year Harry wants to go to the international Quidditch Cup. He is still studying hard to become a wizard. He has a huge crush on Cho Chang, a girl who goes to Hogwarts. He constantly has dreams about her. Like always Harry is in more danger than ever. This time it could be deadlier than ever before. Once again Voldemore is back, trying to find Harry. Harry’s friends, Hermione Ranger and Ron Wesley are there to help him with his adventures. If your want to know what goes on in the rest of this book, than read it!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling J K Rowling wrote Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It is the first book out of a six-book series. This book is fantasy. It is all about wizards. It is also about friends and romance. Ron, Hermione, and Harry Potter become best friends in time. Ron and Harry became friends from the start, but Hermione became friends with Harry. Ron secretly likes Hermione; Harry knows it but Hermione doesn't. Harry meets lots of wizards. Some of the wizards he met were famous like Albus Dumbledore. He learns about Voldermort and chocolate frogs. He meets other wizards and girl wizards. He learns about muggle borns and full blood wizards. This book is great for both girls and boys. It is all about Hogwarts, the school of magic. Harry has a lot going for him and every one knows he will succeed, but others hope he fails.

The Haunted Mediator by Meg Cabot A book that I enjoyed reading was Haunted by Meg Cabot. The genre of this novel is realistic fiction with a small twist of supernatural bliss thrown in with it. This book is about a girl, Susannah, who lives in Carmel by the Sea. She deals with normal problems everyday. Buying the latest make-up, running for class president and of course many others, but she also deals with not-so-normal problems: like being in love with a ghost named Jesse. Susannah Simon is a mediator. A mediator is a person able to see, speak and interact with ghosts. Her job, as far as she knows is to direct the ghosts with unfinished business to the places where they belong. The ghost she is in love with is her age, which means he died young. This book is mostly for girls who like supernatural bliss with some reality. She is dealing with ghosts and stepbrothers, homework, friends, and of course the mortal Paul Slater who is crushing on her and Jesse her ghost boyfriend. Susannah is a good example of girls in general. Besides the ghost part, she is average sixteen-year-old girl who cares about clothes and style and worries about love, and keeping in with her best friends. This is a book I recommend because the plot never ends and the book is never boring.

Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card Shadow of The Hegemon was written by Orson Scott Card and is the second book in the series of spin-offs from the book Ender’s Game. The genre of Shadow of The Hegemon is science fiction, since it takes place in the distant future, and deals with the themes including space travel and aliens. This particular book follows the story of Bean. Bean is a battle school graduate (for those of you who don’t know, “Battle school is a training center for extremely talented youth, created to find commanders to destroy the bug species that rave earth. They need to joint with the world government. I thought this book was action-packed, and suspenseful throughout. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in or has read the other to books. It also has many political aspects, and would appeal to someone interested in what politics could be like in the future.

The Amber Spyglass The Amber Spyglass is a very interesting book that follows in the footsteps’ of the last two books written by Phillip Pullman, The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife. They both have been very successful books that I really enjoyed reading. This book, The Amber Spyglass is a very complicated book and if you are not an advanced reader it may be hard to follow. In the kingdom of Heaven, there is a brutal battle. In its shocking outcome, it will uncover the secret of dust. This story reveals more secrets and has many unexpected events. This book wraps up the series nicely. If there were any unanswered questions at the beginning of the book, they will be answered by the end of the book. I highly recommend the complete trilogy. You should start out with the first book, The Golden Compass, though.
