Possible Faculty Salary Incentive Program 32

Possible Faculty Salary Incentive Program Eligible Faculty At least two years of external grants with ability and capacity to pay salary plus ERE (not TRIF) Arrangement Grants pay a set percentage of reference salary and associated ERE Percentage in the range 15% to 50% (fixed) 33

Possible Faculty Salary Incentive Program Grace Period Possible grace period between grants but salary arrangement will not be modified; NAU will not pay the missing salary or allow you to temporarily return to “standard” salary model Arrangement Terminated If arrangement is terminated for whatever reason then that faulty member is precluded from further participation 34

Possible Faculty Salary Incentive Program Example Assume o $100,000 AY salary with 35% ERE (reference salary) o 30% Of reference salary paid by grants (salary increase) Grants pay 30% of reference salary plus associated ERE o NAU pays $100,000 for 0.769FTE plus associated ERE o Grants pay for 0.231FTE plus associated ERE; 30% of reference salary = $30,000  35% ERE on $30,000 = $10,500  Total paid by grants = $40,500 35

Possible Faculty Salary Incentive Program Example (cont’d.) Faculty AY salary = $130,000 (base AY salary reference point still $100K; raises will change reference AY salary; grants must accommodate any and all raises) Only discussion stage at this time! 36

Performance Funding Important for CEFNS Degrees granted Courses completed Research expenditures 37

Numbers of Graduates 38

More graduates... The quality of the education we provide is important to all of us. We must remain dedicated to our students and the excellence of the NAU experience. This is NAU’s Grand Challenge! 39

Research Expenditures New research center: Center for Bioengineering Innovation (Kiisa Nishikawa) 40

Research Expenditures Kiisa Nishikawa, Brent Nelson, Chris Mann and Matt Gage received one of six nation-wide W.M. Keck Foundation Grants in Medical Research “A New Twist on Muscle Contraction” The check is in the mail. 41

Carnegie High Research Classification NAU is being attentive to: external research dollars number of Ph.D. graduates 42
