Bond Proposal May 12, 2012

 I.E.Clark Fine Arts Center – Problem – Consistent separation of walls and foundation over the years. Summary – The Fine Arts Center has been experiencing structural and cosmetic distress associated with settlement and/or differential movement in the pier and beam foundation for many years or decades. The cause of this distress is inadequate support provided by the concrete pier and beam foundation. “Moody Engineering Inc.  Redirecting Surface Water runoff (District Fixed)  Extend Roof Drain Gutters (District Fixed)  Replace cast iron drain system within foundation crawl space

 Four professional firms were contacted for opinions--all recommended repair vs. replacement due to the cost of repairing the older building.  All issues with the theatre/auditorium were structural--not cosmetic.

 In August, the District heard the reports and, rather than invest major amounts of money into the facility again, closed it down.  The amount necessary to repair the Arts Center to meet the standard of expectation is reflected in the Bond Proposal in the construction of a new theatre/auditorium.

 The district’s 3/5/10 Committee, together with many local volunteers, formed a Facilities Committee and began looking at current and future needs.  A Facilities Tour was taken by the Committee.  The Board of Trustees selected the following firms to help with plans, construction costs and bonding: Jim Singleton/Singleton Architects Von Gallagher/Gallagher Construction Christian Merritt/Government Capitol (No Expense has been or will be incurred unless a Bond Issue is passed.)

 Community Student-Health and Physical Education Center ( 9,000 sq.ft.) Fitness center for Varsity/Junior Varsity/7 th -8 th Grade Boys & Girls that will be available to the public Weight Room Showers Lockers Coaches Offices  Much Needed Parking The area between the current Field House and the Home Economics Cottage (current tennis courts would stay) would be a concrete parking lot instead of asphalt, as the prices for each are almost identical.

 Total Amount of Bond: $8, ◦ Term: 20 4% ◦ Average Homeowner: $103, ◦ Yearly: $ ◦ Monthly Cost: $19.52 Total Cost $13,207,920 Total Savings to Taxpayer vs. a 30 year note: approximately $3 million

Ag Related: Remodeling Old Central Office - Fall Classrooms – 1 Technology Room Offices for 3 Current Maintenance – Will become Ag Trades -Fall 2012 Maintenance will move into current Ag Building Current Central Office – Moved to Old Band Hall 2 rooms – 1 for Home economics 1 for Ag Classroom
