POETRY UNIT A short piece of imaginative writing, of a personal nature and laid out in lines

 Dialect- a version of language spoken by people in a particular place, time, or social group. Ex: ya’ll, yun’z “WHEN THE FROST IS ON THE PUNKIN” POETIC DEVICES

ONOMATOPOEIA  The use of words or phrases that sound like the things to which they refer.  Ex: Bang, pop, buzz “WHEN THE FROST IS ON THE PUNKIN” POETIC DEVICES

 Alliteration- the repetition of initial consonant sounds Ex: Sally sells sea shells, Tip of the tongue  Atmosphere- that emotion created in the reader by all or part of a literary work. “WHEN THE FROST IS ON THE PUNKIN” POETIC DEVICES
