Preventing future episodes of mental health problems using positive psychology “The Psychology of Well-Being” Copyright 2012 Daniel Trussell, Ph.D. How Families Flourish.com Alpharetta GA Applied Positive Psychology has been proven to Significantly prevent depression, anxiety and adjustment disorder diagnoses across a two-year follow-up period among children with high levels of baseline symptoms (Gillham, Hamilton, Freres, Patton, & Gallup, 2006) Significantly prevent effects of disruptive behaviors 24 to 36 months after the intervention (Cutuli, 2004; Cutuli, Chaplin, Gillham, Reivich, & Seligman, 2007) Over 20 additional studies have similar results Findings based on the Penn Resiliency Project, which uses CBT, problem –solving, resilience training, social intelligence, communication skills and relaxation. This program is being used in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
