Capacity Building of NGOs Through In Service Training - To increase skills, more activity and continued vitality of voluntary organizations and voluntary workers, and NGOs.

SYLLABUS AND RECOMMENDED SUBJECTS Topical and Subject Recommendations of Technical Committee in July ) Basic Course in Helping Process. 2) Growth and Development and care of Children. 3) Care and Guidance of Disabled Children. 4) Child Care. 5)Care of the Elderly. The objectives of these Courses are to provide knowledge and skills in dealing with children, disabled people and the older persons.

Analysis/Impact On Study Two hundred questionnaires were sent to all the respondents who participated in 7 Courses from 7 February to 10 November, Impact on the training based on the study on ‘Care and Guidance of Disabled Children’. (i)Increased in knowledge gained during the Course. (ii)Increased in Skills required to deal effectively with disabled children.

Analysis Impact on Study RESULT OF FINDINGS 1.98 respondents or 79.0% knowledge increased between 40 – 60% respondents or 72.6% skills in dealing with the disabled children improved by between %.

Analysis Impact on Study Other findings from the study were recorded as below:- (i)Differences in the understanding and feeling after attending the Course  Understand better the behaviour of client  More tolerant when communicating with parents of disabled person  More knowledgeable and more confident  Having knowledge to manage disabled children

Analysis Impact on Study (ii)Changes that have been implemented at the work place after attending the Course  Construct own teaching equipment  Making teaching equipment from waste materials  Visit more often to the family  Carry out activities based on individual need  Provide more daily activities  More creative  Interact more with client family  More exposure to general public

The Council would like to ensure a professional standard of services are given to the client, and in this regard the In Service Training of the Council is very relevant and needed by the NGO’s. To establish international subcentres throughout the world for training of the social workers.
