Basic Eligibility for Financial Aid Demonstrate Financial Need H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate Working towards a degree or eligible certificate program U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or AB540 Valid Social Security # Maintain SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress)

Step 1: How is Financial Aid Eligibility Determined? Complete Applications by March 2 nd Deadline Financial “need” based on family income, assets, household Tuition and Fees

What forms do you need to complete? U.S. Citizens Eligible non-citizens (green card holders) FAFSA GPA Form Dream App. U.S. Citizens Eligible non-citizens AB 540 “Dreamers”

AB 131 – Dream Act Law Signed into law on October 8, Became effective: January 1, 2013 * Requirements:  Be eligible for AB 540  GPA and income requirements as decided by CSAC (California Student Aid Commission) Allows students who meet AB 540 criteria to receive: UC Grant, State University Grant (at CSU’s), Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) grant and Educational Opportunity Program and Services fee waivers. Apply for and receive Board of Governors fee California Community Colleges. Apply for and receive state financial aid, including Cal Grants and Chafee Foster Youth Grants for.use at eligible public and private institutions NEW! Dream Loan for 2015

Who Files the Dream App? Step 1:

Dream Act-Student Information Step 2: Do you use your SSN, ITIN or DACA? (Social Security Number, Individual Taxpayer ID #, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ?) SSN or ITIN? If you have both, use your SSN If you have neither, leave blank Check “yes” if your SSN was issued after you completed the DACA process Be sure your name matches your number

Dream Act-Student Information Step 3: Student Dependency Question This will determine if you need to provide parental information or not. If you check any of the questions, then you DO NOT need to complete Section 3 (Parent Information)

Dream Act-Parent Financial Information Step 4: Enter parent’s income information from If they have not filed yet, calculate the AGI. For directions, go to: Enter parent’s asset information as of the date you complete this application You must include cash support Do not include student aid, welfare, untaxed social security, SSI, military housing, combat pay, child tax credit, earned income credit, food stamps

Check timelines in order to apply for institutional financial aid and private scholarships. Apply for all other private scholarships for which the student may be eligible.
