Tomb Sweeping Festival Sunny, Lulu

We can clean our ancestor's tombstone and cut the grass around there. The origin: Since ancient times, a day has been designated for sweeping the tomb and honoring one's ancestors. It usually occurs on April 4 (leap years) or April 5 (other years) of the Gregorian calendar. This festival means we miss our ancestor and do something for them.

Teacher’s Day Journey

We have Teachers' Days to honor teachers. We often make use of the day to express our gratitude to our teachers, such as sending them a card. This date was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Confucius, the model teacher in ancient China. The Ministry of Education established the national holiday as September 28th.

The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on 5/5 of the lunar calendar. The boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival are traditional customs to attempts to rescue the patriotic poet Chu Yuan. Chu Yuan drowned on 5/5 of the lunar calendar in 277 B.C. The ancient Chinese threw bamboo leaves filled with cooked rice and meat into the water. Therefore the fish would eat the rice rather than the hero poet. This later on turned into the custom of eating rice dumplings. It is really yummy and very popular nowadays.

Thank you for watching!
