Reporting Summer Attendance into EMS Due to a new Annual Process Reporting (APR) System, you must allocate student attendance to multiple school sites in the EMS system. ◦ For example, last year multiple sites that ran program at the same location were able to report in one site of their choosing in EMS. (IF Cleveland ES and Longfellow ES both ran at Cleveland ES, they could report all of their attendance in Cleveland ES for the summer and ExCEL would differentiate the attendance for the two sites.) ◦ Due to CDE having a new APR system, sites must report attendance to multiple school sites as needed to ensure meeting attendance targets. For example, if Cleveland ES and Longfellow ES run at the same location, it is up to the agency to determine how to split the attendance between the two sites to ensure attendance is met.

CDE Involuntary Grant Reductions – Supplemental Grants will be included in attendance review As of January 2015, CDE will include supplemental grants in their involuntary grant reduction calculations. An involuntary reduction may be imposed if:  In two consecutive calendar years, attendance is less than 85% of the targeted level, or  In the most recent calendar year (excluding year one of the grant), attendance is less than 75% of the targeted attendance level.

Grant Reduction This reduction would take effect in the fiscal year.

Grant Reduction Timeline

DCYF Summer Match Funding DCYF summer match grants will be processed through the ExCEL office (same as school year). Sites that receive separate DCYF summer funding will not receive a DCYF match grant.

DCYF Summer Match Funding DCYF summer match amount is pending. Current estimate is $1 million to distribute across all ES and MS ExCEL summer funded programs. Last summer a number of sites received no funding at all. This summer all sites will receive funding. Funded sites from last year may receive a reduction as a result. Looking towards , DCYF match grants will be calculated based on attendance achieved in 2015.

Step-Up Middle Schools Step Up program funding will come from ExCEL After School central budget, not the school site budget. Your principal may choose to also use their supplemental grant. Please be sure to coordinate with your principal re: logistics if you plan to run your summer program at the same time.
