Basics of LEP Classification LEP Testing Accommodations Questions

Difference between ESL and LEP How do students get classified as LEP? How do students leave LEP status? How do I recommend a student for LEP status?

Parents are asked predominant language spoken in the home Home Language Survey Students who speak a language other than English at home are tested Woodcock- Munoz Testing Students who do not score in the fluent range are classified as LEP Status decision

Must meet all of the following requirements: Pass STAAR Reading Pass STAAR Writing (7 th ) Fluent on Woodcock- Munoz Advanced High on TELPAS

Check LEP status Make sure student is not already classified as LEP. Recommendation form Available in your packet or on my webpage Monitor student progress Continue monitoring student progress during placement process Placement decision Typically, a placement decision can be made after two nine-weeks grading periods.
