Our Mission Statement As a community we strive to foster meaningful relationships and build a safe, supportive environment that develops life-long learners who care and think deeply about their world. Our partnership is critical to this work!

School Continuous Improvement Plan (S.C.I.P.)  To increase the academic achievement of all students, every Calf Pen Meadow student will have access to a rigorous and quality education and will have the supports needed to be successful.  To provide a safe and orderly environment for all, Calf Pen Meadow will establish and maintain a community that supports, promotes, and expects behaviors which ensure students are responsible learners and caring citizens of their school.  To strengthen and promote school/family/community relationships, the people attached to Calf Pen Meadow School will be committed to fostering and nurturing these partnerships that contribute to increased learning for all students.

What have our grade 3 mathematicians been working on? Added and subtracted numbers within 1,000 Used place value strategies and number lines to represent addition and subtraction solutions Developed the concept of multiplication and related it to skip counting and repeated addition; practiced basic multiplication combinations, beginning with 2's, 5's, and 10's Represented and analyzed data on bar graphs and pictographs

What will our grade 3 mathematicians do next?  Explore and reason about area and perimeter using standard units (feet and inches) & metric units (centimeters and meters)  Identify and reason about attributes of shapes  Develop and understand the meaning of fractions and fraction notation; use representations of fractions to solve problems  Learn multiplication combinations up to 9 x 9; develop strategies for solving multiplication and division  Solve addition and subtraction problems with 3 digit numbers, working with numbers larger than 1,000

What have our grade 3 readers been working on? Unit 4: Unlocking & Exploring Traditional Literature recognize the common characteristics of traditional literature explore connections between folktales and cultures read closely to determine the relationship between central message, or lesson, and key details in a text compare/contrast traditional literature stories w/similar lessons ask/answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a traditional text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for answers take and utilize notes to become effective oral storytellers practice the skills of fluent and effective oral storytelling

What will our grade 3 readers do next?  Unit 5: Biography  Unit 6: Uncovering the Language and Messages in Poetry  Unit 7: Researching Across Texts: Content Area Study (Science)  Unit 8: Reflection and Assessment: How I’ve Grown as a Reader
