A Broadband Wireless Access network for the city of Lyon Group C  Alexis CHALMOT DE LA MESLIERE  Prem MARIANNIE  Viken TORAMANIAN  Vojtech KOTOUS  Yohan GUILLET Wireless Telecommunication ISEP 2006/2007

Choice

 Nomadic and mobility (60 km/h) and also regional roaming with Wimax e (SOFDMA modulation).  TDD enables adjustment of the downlink / uplink ratio to efficiently support asymmetric downlink / uplink traffic. Two 15 MHz TDD bands on both sides of the 3.5GHz With the Wimax technology, we assign to our network the bigger capacity and we share all the resources for everybody. Choice of technology only licensed frequency for Wimax in France:

Interferences The computing of the C/I is very important to make a choice of cell patern Less than

Network architecture synthesis Wireless Access Wimax Network architecture - 4 antennas by station - 4 frequencies by station - high capacity : 10x4 actives users - Voice, Video conference, websurfing possible - Trisector Base Station - Important size cell - Low interference - High C/I (up to 7 dBm) - Best quality

CAPEX evolution per year

OPEX per year

CAPEX/OPEX vs Income (Optimistic)

We are profitable after four years Total balance after each year from 2007 (optimistic)

Conclusion

Conclusion and Upgrades  Fully operationnal Mobile Wimax solution from 2007  Full coverage and enough capacity for Lyon  Profitability reached after four years (2010)  Big profits to improve the network even more after 2010  Optimisation of the load of the network  Different frequency band for specific areas  Improved Mobility (speed, handover)
