Welcome to the National Emergency Training Center

Ron Face November 24, In March of 1979 the Federal Government purchased this facility from the Daughter ’ s of Charity of the Provincial House at a cost of $3,514,000 to be the resident facility for the National Fire Academy (NFA).

Ron Face November 24, This facility was the campus of the former St. Joseph ’ s College; an all female Catholic college, founded in 1809 by Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton. St. Joseph ’ s closed its doors in 1972.

Ron Face November 24, Nearby Mt. Saint Mary ’ s College, an all male Catholic College went co-ed to accommodate the closing and this campus sat vacant until our purchase in 1979.

Ron Face November 24, The facility consists of 107 acres of land and 26 buildings, some of which date back to the early 1800s. The entire facility is on the National Register of Historic Places

Ron Face November 24, National Fallen Firefighters Memorial This memorial was designated as a national monument in August of 1990 and recognizes career and volunteer firefighters who have died in the line of duty. The Memorial is located next to “H” building.

8 National Civil Defense/Emergency Management Monument Dedicated on April 6, 2002, is the National Civil Defense/Emergency Management Monument in honor of those who serve in the field of civil defense and emergency management.

10 Our facility is known as the National Emergency Management Agency It is home to the United States Fire Administration (USFA) the National Fire Academy and the Emergency Management Institute (EMI), and supporting activities.

Ron Face November 24, The campus was officially dedicated on October 8, 1979 and the first NFA classes were offered here on January 21, 1980.

Ron Face November 24, Through the programs offered by the NFA and EMI, FEMA promotes the professional development of our Nation’s emergency professionals.

Ron Face November 24, NFA and EMI offer classes approximately 47 weeks a year.

Ron Face November 24, Through its courses and programs, the NFA works to enhance the ability of the fire service and allied professions to deal effectively with fire and related emergencies.

Ron Face November 24, We support 75 Special Groups each year consisting of 3,000 participants for a total of approximately 25,000 transient participants supported by the NETC.

Ron Face November 24, The Emergency Management Institute is responsible for providing training to Federal, State, local governments and volunteer officials to enhance emergency management practices in the United States and US Territories through a nationwide program of resident and non-resident instruction.

Ron Face November 24, Within NFA and EMI, emergency management and fire service professionals find experienced instructors, excellent facilities, undergraduate-level and graduate curricula that enable them to improve their skills significantly.

Ron Face November 24, There are approximately 233 federal employees and 309 contractors employed at the training center to support all the activities conducted on the facility.

Ron Face November 24, Noble Training Center is located at Fort McClellan, AL in Anniston. It is located 90 miles from Atlanta, GA and 60 Miles from Birmingham, AL.

Ron Face November 24, The Noble Training Center will create, train, and evaluate the national medical team response to acts of terrorism and both natural and technological disasters. Ron Face November 24, The instructional staff of the Noble Training Center are subject matter experts in their respective fields.

Ron Face November 24, The hospital environment is used to train the following healthcare professions: Physicians Nurses and Nurse Executives Hospital Executives Hospital Engineers EMTs Others: PHS Officers, Pharmacists, etc.

Ron Face November 24, Noble Training Center has undergone several renovations and additions to bring the structure to its current size of 162,000 square feet on 20 acres of land with heliport. There are realistic hospital settings within the facility such as the Emergency Department and decontamination lanes.

Ron Face November 24, The Hospital is used as a mock hospital training facility. Available for applied research and beta testing such as the prototype mass casualty ambulatory and non- ambulatory decontamination lanes.

Ron Face November 24, If you have already received a stipend during the fiscal year, advise the Admissions Office that you are willing to attend this course with no stipend Fill out the application completely and correctly, especially Block 16 If you have been selected for a course, please make every effort to attend

Ron Face November 24, Security at NETC has changed since Prior to 9-11 the Campus was an open facility. Since 9-11 the Campus has and will continue to increase Security. Upgrade to vehicle and pedestrian access will be made to minimize delays.
