T - Cat Wildcat Offense for W-Ting Teams By Roldan Leyba, All rights reserved@Roldanrene@hotmail.com

Why the T-Cat In 2008 I helped coach an American High School in Germany, we were 7-1 won our division, play-off and sadly for our boys lost in the European Championship. We were a Wing T team which in all honesty I had not been a part off for 10 years from my recollection. The reminder was stark, the Wing T is a viable offense and with the right combination of talent and coaching can be deadly to an unprepared defense. But what if the defense is prepared? What is the next step? This loss has been in the back of my mind for some time, to the point I still have not viewed the film. How many Coaches have had the same problem they wish to not want to re-live the Night Mare? This changed on March 29th 2009. I am working now for a European Club as a DC and am preparation for our first game, the Team runs the Wild Cat. The moment of Clarity happened as I was breaking down various film, articles and information I had garnered to defend against it. The more I looked at this the more I realized that it could be incorporated so easily into a Wing T offense and be another wrinkle in an offense that is getting tired or has talent but not in the right positions. This is not revolutionary, most modern offenses are based on Wing T. What all this entails is expansion and a different way to build the puzzle using the same skills. It cuts down install time since most teachings in the Wing T are kept, just a few minor adjustments and foresight in its implementation. Some ideas we can do Versus a 44 or 53 look.

What we can accomplish with the T-Cat Causing opposing team to work and spend more time on assignment football. Ability to score quickly as in a Spread and open up the running lanes. Taking three or four defenders out of the box and unbalancing the Defense. Allowing the Use of a QB as a fifth receiver and running back, making keys even harder. A platoon situation with two players who can pass, thus forcing coverage. Causing too many Defensive adjustments in a game.

Just The Basics All Teams can run 12 plays, our T-Cat Will have 7 runs- 2 Inside-2 Outside-1- Trap-1 Counter- 1 Reverse. 5 passing Plays,4-Play action and 1- Reverse 1-Screen. Pass route depth is to your discretion Two Formations. Tiger and Puma.

Rules #2 is always in Jet Motion except in 2 pass Backside Guard pulls in all running plays and on Waggle Pass 3 always pulls except in POWER PLAY or POWER PASS WE always Block Down R/L receivers have 4 routes GO-POST-DEEP SLANT-COMEBACK we want to keep them in Cover 3 or 1 We must have two players who can throw the ball always this insures that they cannot key the passer. Protection all Passes that start with 5 line slides toward 5 hole- 6 they slide toward 6 hole, any Waggle the Backside Guard Pulls Pass Block always aggressive

Tiger- PumaT-Cat The Play calling may not be right, the blocking scheme may not be what you wish. Coaches adapt it and make it what you will. Take your Wing T out of the 70´s. “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain”. Quote from Dune by F.
