How many calories should you eat? UK Department of Health Estimated Average Requirements (EAR) are a daily calorie intake of 1940 calories per day for women and 2550 for men. During an all day hike, 1000 calories per meal (breakfast lunch and dinner) is necessary, in addition to another 1000 calories in the form of trail foods. That’s 4000 for each day of the expedition.
