Allah the most Glorious destined all Moslems to fast for one month of the year, during the blessed Ramadan. Allah says: "This month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and criterion. So whoever of you sights the month, he must observe Saum that month “ (Surah Al- Baqarah185) He gave Moslems the freedom to perform optional fasting. Allah the most Glorious destined all Moslems to fast for one month of the year, during the blessed Ramadan. Allah says: "This month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and criterion. The virtue of fasting is great. Our prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him) said: "In heaven there is a door called Al Rayan confined on fasting people only during Dooms day. It is said: "Where are the fasting people? So they stand up and pass through such door. No body except them is allowed to pass and when they enter the door closes and no one enters" (Approved).
