Why is our Prison Population Growing?

Connecticut  Connecticut’s Rate of Incarceration 373 per 100,000 residents.  The Northeast average rate is 298 per 100,000  Connecticut’s Rate of Incarceration is 28th in the country.  92% of the prison population is male.  There are 1663 crimes in the State of Connecticut for which incarceration is a possible sentence.
