HOW DOES COCA-COLA DAMAGE THE ENVIRONMENT? PESTICIDE USE INDIA WATER PACKAGING SARA, ALEX AND GABY

PESTICIDE USE According to an Indian NGO water produced by coca-cola contain toxins that can contribute to cancer and the brak down of the inmune system Products had 30 times more pesticides than the amount permitted under EU regulations However coca-cola afirms its plants filter water to remove contaminants and their products are tested for pesticides Coca-cola registered an 11% drop in sails after pesticide allegations in 2003

WATER In 2004, a Coke factory was closed down in Kerala after being blamed for reducing the quantity and quality of water in the area. Even though the main problem was the lack of rainfall, Coca Cola shouldn’t build plants in drought-sicken areas. In Plachimada, Coke has shortened the water supply and polluted groundwater; here, the plant used about 900,000 liters of water last year There is a big problem regarding water polluting and using up between India and Coca-Cola

India :s India has come under intense scrutiny, many communities are suffering of water shortage aswell of contaminated groundwater and soil. Many of these are a result of Coca-Cola’s bottiling operations The state of kerala impose a ban of colas from the state only to be quashed by Coca-Cola One of the biggest bottling facilities has been closed for 17 months becuase the village council has refused to renes the license.

COCA-COLA OVERSEAS In 2000 it employed 16,000 people in five countries across Asia-Pacific Concentrating on domestic market alone leads to stagnant sales and profit Emerging markets offer new growth opportunities Company has a high level of uncertainty when it comes to raw materials it uses WW2- provide Coca-Cola to every American no matter their location
