FEED & FERTILIZER REGULATORY PROGRAM The Texas Feed & Fertilizer Control Service is an integral part of THE OFFICE OF THE STATE CHEMIST The Texas Feed & Fertilizer Control Service only regulates the Feed & Fertilizer Industry We do not regulate the Seed or Pesticide Industry but we require extra labeling when seed or pesticide is added to fertilizer
UNDER STATE AUTHORITY We inspect License Medicated Feed Mills for CGMP’s We will share the inspection information with FDA under a cooperative agreement We do not work under a contract with FDA We want all Field Investigators to be commissioned with FDA FDA commission provides better access to various firms whether it is a farm or a firm within an International Trade Zone
NON-MEDICATED FEED MILLS These are Non-Licensed FDA Feed Mills using Category 1 Drugs Inspect for CGMP’s May collect samples May conduct a BSE Inspection at this time Conduct 12 inspections per investigator (including both MFA’s & NMFA’s)

BSE INSPECTIONS Conduct BSE Inspections at both Non- Medicated Feed Mills as well as FDA Licensed Feed Mills This physical year, we started inspecting integrated operations such as Poultry Feed Mills & Feed Yards (Mills) We inspect protein renderers for trace forward & trace backwards 10 inspections per investigator
BSE INSPECTION RE-DISTRIBUTION CENTERS We have trace forward pet foods containing prohibited material to Non- Profit Organizations
INVESTIGATIONS We investigate animal illness & death when related to feed We investigate plant & crop damage or loss if fertilizer related We have conducted surveillance work with the San Antonio Waste Water Dept.
CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION We do not have the Power of Arrest We have conducted criminal investigations where arrests were made One person was returned to TDC for the second time Owner of a trucking company was taken into custody
SHOWS We have worked Trade Shows, Livestock Shows & Pet Shows We search for products which make drug claims and/or contain ingredients that are not AAFCO approved
