Garden Angelica Angelica archangelica Family: Apiaceae Part: dried roots and rhizome Pharmaceutical name: Angelicae radix

Constituents: essential oil, secoiridoids, coumarins, furanocoumarins, tannins, phenolic acids. Actions: carminative, antispasmodic, cholagogue, warms and tonifies the spleen, warms and moves the heart.

Uses: digestive weakness, deficiency of the spleen Qi and Yang, poor appetite, phlegm in the lungs and sinuses, depression. Dose: Tinctura Angelicae, drops, three times per day.

Rosemary – Rosmarinus officinalis

Family: Lamiaceae Part: dried leaves Pharmaceutical name: Rosmarini folium

Constituents: essential oil, diterpenoids, flavonoids, phenolic acids. Actions: tonifies, warms and moves the spleen, heart and liver Qi, digestive tonic, carminative, antidepressant.

Uses: digestive weakness, deficiency of the spleen Qi and Yang, poor circulation, exhaustion, depression, dysmenorrhoea, poor libido. Dose: Tinctura Rosmarini, drops, three times per day.

Uses: recurring urinary infections, digestive weakness, oedema, mental dullness. Dose: Tinctura Juniperi, drops, three times per day.

Yarrow - Achillea millefolium

Family: Asteraceae Part: dried aerial parts with flowers Pharmaceutical name: Millefolii herba

Constituents: sesquiterpene laktones, flavonoids, tannins, essential oil. Actions: warm and cold, antispasmodic, anti- inflammatory, choleretic, digestive and general tonic, anti-hemorrhagic, astringent, carminative.

Uses: spasmodic digestive weakness, loss of appetite, dysmenorrhoea, menorrhagia, haemorrhage. Dose: Tinctura Millefolii, drops, three times per day.

Family: Cannabaceae Part: cones Constituents: humulon, lupulon, essential oil, tannins, flavonoids.

Actions: tranquilliser, hypnotic, increases the effect of oestrogen, digestive tonic, calms the heart and liver hyperactive Yang. Uses: anxiety, insomnia, menopausal disorders, digestive weakness, dysmenorrhoea. Dose: Tinctura Humuli lupuli, drops, three times per day.
