Cross Contact

What is a Food Allergy? Immunological response to food (allergic reaction). Food allergy is the leading cause of serious allergic reaction.

Adverse Reactions to Foods

Major Food Allergens

Common Food Allergies In adults: Shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts (walnuts), fish, eggs, wheat, soy. In children: Eggs, milk, peanuts, soy. Tree nuts and peanuts can cause deadly food allergy reactions called anaphylaxis!

What is “Cross Contact”? This happens when an “un-safe” food allergen accidentally comes in contact with an allergen “safe” food. As a result, the safe food contains small amounts of the allergen and could cause a reaction in persons who are sensitive.

Examples of Cross Contact in home

Examples of Cross Contact in Restaurants

Avoiding Cross- Contact 1- Washing, rins and sanitize cookware, utensil and equipment. 2-Wash hands and change gloves 3-Use seprate cookware and equipment 4- Labelling & Packaging
