Turn Your Faith Into Action Bread for the World Sunday

We join thousands of other Christians across the country as we lift up our voices with hungry people. Through prayers for hungry people and for our nation’s leaders, we commit ourselves to the fight against hunger and poverty in our country and around the world. Bread for the World Sunday

Nearly 16,000 children die every day from hunger-related causes. That’s one child every five seconds. In developing nations, one out of four people lives in extreme poverty—on less than $1.25 a day. In the United States, one in five children lives in a family that struggles to put food on the table. The Face of Hunger in a World of Plenty

Charity alone is simply not a realistic solution. Essential federal nutrition assistance programs must be protected and improved. These programs are the country’s true first line of defense against hunger. Hunger is a Fixable Problem

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. —James 2:14-18 God’s Heart for Hungry People

Jesus said to them, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” —Matthew 25:35-36 God’s Heart for Hungry People

We have the knowledge and resources to end widespread hunger. As followers of Jesus Christ, we listen to God’s voice and use our own voices to speak up for an end to hunger. As God’s hands and feet in the world, we can work toward a community in which every person has an equal opportunity to thrive. Jesus Calls Us

We can use our voices to challenge our nation’s decision makers to change laws and structures that keep people vulnerable. Bread for the World equips and inspires its members to meet with, call, and write personal letters and s to their members of Congress. Our Action to End Hunger

Bread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. Our Mission
