Circuit Development for Siquijor as a Tourism Destination Capitalizing on its Natural Cultural Assets, and Strengthening its Link with Dumaguete as its Gateway
Goals: To improve Siquijor as a unique sun-and-beach resort destination while highlighting its mystic-healing niche, thereby increasing investments in order to create more jobs for the local people and increase revenues. * Rise in visitor arrivals from an average growth rate of 10% to 50% yearly * Increase in the number of tourism facilities and enterprises * More jobs generated for the local people in tourism enterprises, production, & services of the island
Project Description The tourism circuit development LED initiative positions Siquijor as a unique yet complimentary eco-cultural destination to Negros Oriental, and particularly to air gateway of Dumaguete City. The key Objectives of the proposed project are to: Develop the natural heritage of Siquijor into a competitive tourism circuit with new and improved visitor activities that attract more tourists and encourage them to stay longer Build capacities of tourism stakeholders and local communities to benefit from as well as contribute to the sustainable development and management of tourism in the Province.
