Terrace hill was Benjamin Franklin Allen’s home. The house contained very modern stuff like warm and cold water, gas lights, a lift, and indoor restrooms.

The Underground railroad traveled through Eastern Iowa. Before the Civil War, Harriet freed 70 slaves from slavery using it.

The Vietnam War Protests began in the 1960’s and 1970’s. The movement gained national prominence in 1965.

Waterloo was originally known as Prairie Rapids Crossing. Iowa State Register and Waterloo Herald was the first newspaper published in Waterloo.
