cfed.org/blog/inclusiveeconomy Background on the Native Asset Building Assessment  Assessment is designed to: learn more about these efforts, spotlight best practices, map the programs, and develop a shared framework.  An outcome will be a widely disseminated white paper for the assets field, Native and non-Native.

cfed.org/blog/inclusiveeconomy Why it is needed  Little discussion exists about: the best way to promote unique asset-building approaches in Native communities; the need for a framework for these approaches to Native asset-building; and successful implementation strategies.

cfed.org/blog/inclusiveeconomy Why it is needed  To assist with strategic planning, making the policy case, and fundraising for Native asset building.  To promote awareness of best practices in Native asset building to help other programs start and expand.  To map out existing Native asset-building programs to help Native and non-Native programs collaborate and network more effectively.

cfed.org/blog/inclusiveeconomy Why the Northwest Area Foundation is supporting it  The NWAF has made a commitment that 40% of annual grant dollars are dedicated to Native-led organizations in its eight-state region.  Region: Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and 75 Native Nations.  This builds on decades of NWAF investment in Native economic prosperity and poverty alleviation.  This will help the NWAF understand the opportunities, gaps, and how to positively influence asset building in the region.
