Transportation & Directions Awareness and Advocacy Day will take place in the Ohio Statehouse. Parking is available under the Statehouse and in nearby garages and lots. Parking Buses can drop passengers off at 3 rd Street Entrance (Accessible). Click Here to see Map and get driving directions.Map Next Slide

Registration & Check In Meeting with Legislator requires advanced registration. registration DEADLINE: February 15 th. Check-In will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Statehouse Museum Gallery located on the ground floor (See Map of Ground Floor).Map of Ground Floor Volunteers will be posted at all entrances to help you find your way. Packet Pick Up Program Booklets will be available at the registration tables located in the Museum Gallery. Advocates meeting with their legislators will need to pick up their name tags and get meeting details. Information tables will also be located in the Museum Gallery. Next Slide

Refreshments Light Refreshments (Coffee, Juice, Donuts, etc.) will be available in the Museum Gallery (Ground Floor where Registration and Information Tables will be). Food items should be eaten before attending the program being held in the Atrium. Participants will be on their own for lunch. Next Slide

Network There are many activities planned for the day. Registration and Refreshments will begin at 8:30 a.m. The DD Awareness and Advocacy Day Program will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the Atrium. Come prepared to listen, learn and meet new people. Next Slide

Awareness Month Kick-Off There will be a program with many speakers. The program will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. in the Statehouse Atrium (1 st Floor). Volunteers will be stationed throughout the Statehouse to guide you to the Atrium using stairs or elevators. Next Slide

Legislative Meeting Prep Participants will be meeting with their legislators. Some meetings may be scheduled during the program (9:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.). A presentation on how to prepare and have successful meetings with legislators will be released soon. Next Slide

Advocacy Talking Points will be provided to support employment, accessible housing or the state budget. Meetings with legislators will take place in the Statehouse and in the Riffe Center across the street. Volunteers will be posted throughout Capitol Square to provide directions. Next Slide

Look Beyond Video Diary Activities of the day will be recorded on video. Advocates will also be able to tell their story on camera. The videos will help Ohioans understand that people with disabilities are valuable and are not defined by their disability. Next Slide
