POP&ROCK

50’s Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Eddie Cochran and Bill Haley are some of the important singers of the fifties. Rock and roll was born in 1954 with Bill Haley’s song “Rock Around the Clock”, and then, appeared the first figure of rock, Elvis Presley. This music is a mix of country and rhythm&blues.

Bill Haley Bill Haley (July 6, 1925 – February 9, 1981) was one of the first American rock and roll musicians. He is credited by many with first popularizing this form of music in the mid-1950s with his group Bill Haley & The Comets and their hit song "Rock Around the Clock". qYctXgM qYctXgM

60’s The hippie movement, was born in the U.S. “protest song”, these songs included war messages and political protest, etc. The gratest exponent of this style was Bob Dylan. Rock expanded very rapidly across Northamerica and later Europe. In England the two most important rock groups of this decade were The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

The Doors The Doors were an American rock & roll band. It was formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, California. The vocalist was Jim Morrison; the keyboard player, Ray Manzarek; the drummer, John Densmore, and guitarist, Robby Krieger. The Doors' music was a fusion of psychedelic rock, hard rock, blues-rock, and acid rock. k9A-07Pw&feature=related

70’s The visual aspect is as important as the sound. During the decade of the seventies, rock diversified into a multitude of styles. Symphonic rock consists of adding elements of classical music to rock music. In Europe, a symphony orchestra is added, whereas in The USA, elements of classical music and jazz are added. In Europe, the most important groups were The Pink Floyd, Genesis and Mike Oldfield.

Pink Floyd Pink Floyd are an English rock band who initially earned recognition for their psychedelic and space rock music, and later, as they evolved, for their progressive rock music. Pink Floyd are known for philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative album cover art, and elaborate live shows. One of rock music's most successful acts, the group has sold over 210 million albums worldwide including 74.5 million albums in the United States. Pink Floyd were formed in London in 1965 when Syd Barrett moved down from Cambridge and joined The Tea Set, a group consisting of Regent Street Polytechnic architecture students Nick Mason, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Bob Klose.

80’s The decade of the eighties was characterized by the wide diversity of music in style, variety form and aesthetics, thanks to the birth of several subgenres of rock (new wave, post-punk, techno, dark, electronic, rap, breakdance, dark metal, new romantic...), that were joined to the scene over the decade.

ACDC AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although the band are commonly classified as hard rock, and considered pioneers of heavy metal, they have always classified their music as "rock and roll". AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, in Membership remained stable until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in In 1979, the band recorded their highly successful album Highway to Hell. Lead singer and co- songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected as Scott's replacement. Later that year, the band released their best-selling album, Back in Black.

90’s The nineties were, in general, the decade of technology in music. The implementation of new technologies(techniques) of recording and the use of computers were elements that became basic in musical production. The nineties began with what can be considered to be the last great movement in rock: grunge.
