Democratic accountability and transparency The AER is a democratic organisation, which actively promotes democratic values, including freedom of choice, accountability and transparency. 2. Regionalism and subsidiarity The AER promotes the principle that all those activities best carried out at the regional level should be under the control of regional politicians. 3.Equality in diversity The AER demonstrates respect for political, ethnic and administrative diversity.
