He had to learn maths, learn about the earth, the weather, how to recognize stars, and how rockets work and how to find one's way in space. He had to develop both his mind and his body. He had to prove that he was strong, intelligent and determined to succeed. 2 Which subject did Yang Liwei have difficulties with? What did he do to overcome the difficulties? Yang Liwei had difficulties with English. In order to improve his English, Yang Liwei asked his wife to help him and practise with him.

3 Retell what happened when Yang Liwei was flying his plane. One day when Yang Liwei was flying his plane, one of the engines stopped. He tried to stay calm and did his best to get back safely. He had almost reach the airport when suddenly the second engine stopped, too. Yang Liwei did not panic and managed to 1and the plane anyway. 4 What is Yang Liwei's mission today? Today, Yang Liwei is telling others about his experience. He wants to inspire young people and help them reach their goals, and he wants to teach people about space.

5 What adjectives could you use to describe Yang Liwei's personality and qualities? brave, intelligent, calm, strong, heroic, determined.
