Stanford Test of Basic Knowledge 2010 Percentile Breakdown Comparison

The Duke Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) is a gifted education program based at Duke University. Its purpose is to identify gifted children and provide them and their parents the resources for them to reach their full educational potential. Children are identified in fourth/fifth grade and/or in seventh grade. In the seventh grade search, students take the SAT or ACT.

Fourth and fifth graders are qualified in early December. To qualify, your Stanford score is as good or better than 95% of the students taking the test nationwide. We see up to 80% of our students at this level qualify for the Duke TIP.

An increase in level of academics in Middle School sees a second level of honor in the Duke TIP in 7 th grade. More difficult to obtain at this level, qualifiers will: Earn a Stanford score as good as or higher than 95% of students taking the test nationwide; Retain Duke TIP status throughout middle school and high school. Typically sit for college entrance exams the winter after they qualify and may sit for the SAT or ACT during 7 th grade; Begin receiving attention from colleges, invitations to summer programs, and in the future are more likely to receive scholarship offers.

SVS Duke TIP 7 th grade qualifiers have received state recognition with medals received at TCU, Duke University in North Carolina and Texas A&M. 73% of the current 7 th grade at SVS have qualified for the Duke TIP this year.
