Year 13 Expectations Target of 90% attendance – ATTENDANCE + ATTITUDE = ATTAINMENT Students will self manage/self track progress throughout the year. Students arrive in Year 13 with a focused attitude to succeed to the best of their ability. BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE.

About Year 13 at Trident in 2015 Six Form Classes Form Teachers are Mr Alan Spence, Mrs Karen Benge, Mr Courtenay Isherwood, Mr Jez Steane, Mrs Lynda Frisby and Ms Jaime Lee-Coffey Current Role of students sits at 157 (79 boys and 78 girls) All Year 13 students are working towards completion of their own academic targets at a range of different levels. We have students working towards NCEA Level 3, some working towards completing NCEA Level 2 and some working towards Vocational Qualifications. This year we have Introduced a Year 13 Champions League Attendance Table for Form Classes WS SUPERSTARS introduced to identify and reward students who are ‘Doing the right thing’

Self Tracking Booklet New for 2015 So students can self manage their progress, track results and attendance and set academic targets. It sole purpose is for students to self manage their own progress so that they….. KNOW WHERE THEY ARE, KNOW WHERE THEY ARE GOING AND KNOW WHAT THEY NEED TO DO TO GET THERE Students will update their booklet at the end of each term. Parents can also track student progress through the PARENT PORTAL on the school website using your parent code for access.

Study/Life Balance This year is a very important year for Year 13 Students Most students will have other commitments outside of their studies (Jobs/Sports Teams/Clubs etc) It is important that Year 13 students achieve a healthy balance between academic school work and commitments outside of school. Students must not use other commitments as an excuse for poor academic performance. It is the students responsibility to self manage their time so that they can do both to a high standard.

Level 3 + 20 credits from level 2 or above EXAMPLE 60 credits at level 3 or above + 20 credits from level 2 or above EXAMPLE Student has 83 credits at level 2 and 58 at level 3. They can carry over 20 credits from level 2 so they would have (20+58) 78 credits towards level 3. They would still be 2 credits short for Level 3.

Recap on Subject Selection All students doing a full level 3 timetable have selected 5 subjects and 1 study line (Unless doing full internal assessment timetable) Students doing Gateway or completing level 2 subjects will still have to choose 6 subjects. Trades students have a specific timetable created for them which will now be in place and established.
