Presentation transcript:

Title and basic project idea Project title: Innovative horticultural technologies for the cultivation of high value plant crops for the local market in cold northern climates Basic project idea: To strengthen economic and social sustainability and increase the competitiveness of the regions by innovative application of plastic greenhouses and emergency heating for the production of berries and other valuable plant food crops

Major aims of main project To examine existing products and develop further affordable and durable plastic greenhouses and plastic tunnels that can withstand strong winds To test and develop sustainable emergency heating systems that can cost-effectively salvage crops from damage during cold spells To test an expanded range of berry crops, cultivars and horticultural techniques and develop protocols for growing these crops in North Atlantic region
