TODAY IN HOMEROOM YOU WILL:  RECEIVE A “DRAFT” COURSE SELECTION SHEET. This sheet is labeled for specific grade levels.  Stapled to this course selection sheet you will find registration directions.

Please take time to review the course selections offered next school year.  Use the WAKE COUNTY PROGRAM PLANNING GUIDE to review graduation requirements, promotion requirements and COURSE DESCRIPTIONS.  The Planning guide can be found on the front page of the RHS WEBSITE.

The Program Planning guide will be a good resource for you when you are selecting courses for next school year. Graduation RequirementsPromotion Requirements

The Planning Guide contains COURSE DESCRIPTIONS and PREREQUISITES for each course offered at RHS. “Horticulture I” course description. Shows the prerequisite of Math II for the course Math III

IMPORTANT to REMEMBER: The Program Planning guide is the WCPSS HS Planning Guide. It contains courses for all high schools in the county. There will be courses in the guide that are not offered at RHS. The only courses offered at RHS are those listed on the RHS COURSE SELECTION SHEETS. Principles of Human Inheritance is not offered at RHS Marine Ecology is offered at RHS

 ATTEND THE CURRICULUM FAIR. RISING 10 th, 11 th and 12 th Grade CURRICULUM FAIR THURSDAY, MARCH 5 th 6-7:30 pm  The curriculum fair is an opportunity for you to visit with academic departments on campus. You can ask questions regarding course selections and receive information about specific courses offered in each department.

What is next? Counselors will be meeting with students between Monday, March 9 th through Friday, March 20 th. Meetings will be held through your 3 rd period classes. Students 3 rd period teachers will have a schedule of when your class will report to the meetings.

What to expect at this meeting? Students will be given a copy of following:  Colored course selection sheet  Copy of your transcript  Copy of “Teacher Recommendations”

 Using all the information you have been provided: -“Draft” Course selection sheet -Transcript -WCPSS Program Planning guide -Teacher Recommendation Sheet -Guidance from your Counselor Students will make course selections on their colored “Course Selection” sheets.  A counselor will review course selections with student in this meeting.  The colored “Course Selection” sheet will be collected at this meeting.  Students will keep copies of their transcript and “teacher recommendation” sheet.

THE DAY AFTER MEETING WITH COUNSELOR:  Students will receive a computerized copy of their course selections. This is NOT your schedule.  Students and parents will review course selections. If parents have concerns regarding selections, they should make changes to the course sheet and return to their counselor in Student Services.
