Circulates for 30 days OAA Approval OAA Review Sent to BOT For the next meeting Sent to NYSED Program registered by NYSED You may now advertise and enroll Students Governance Approval Letter of Intent (OAA) Governance Approval Proposal (OAA) Submit to CAPPR BOT Approval Submit new courses to CUR for approval the next month after BOT approval
4 Step 1: Letter of Intent Letter of Intent Students Purpose and Goals Need Curriculum (Note if Master Plan or Charter Amendment is needed) Faculty Cost Assessment
5 Letter of Intent Send LOI to the EVC of OAA with A copy to the Director of Program Review, Articulation And Transfer Include 2 PDF copies on 2 CD’s Following a preliminary review, it is sent to all the Presidents of the CUNY colleges. Circulates for 30 day review After you have approval from the EVC (in the form of a formal response) You may officially begin your proposal Step 2: Letter of Intent to Proposal Submit to Faculty Governance At your college. Collate reviews and resubmit to EVC
6 Step 3: Proposal Proposal Students Include copy of any survey Purpose and Goals Need and Justification Include letters from potential employers if applicable or available Also include sample job postings Curriculum With attached Forms Course Content and Requirements With attached Syllabi for New and Revised courses and catalog description of old courses As well as Sample Program Scheduling Form Faculty With attached SED Faculty Assignment Form Plus applicable CV’s (max of 2 pages) Cost Assessment With attached Forms: Projected Expenditures for the Proposed Program Projected Revenue Related to for the Proposed Program Projected Capital Expenditures for the Proposed Program Articulation Agreement Signed by representatives of both campuses
7 Proposal Make the changes and Resubmit to OAA Submit proposal to OAA Remember to keep the CAPPR deadline in mind. Send the proposal to OAA with time to receive suggested revisions and for you to make edits ready for CAPPR’s meeting OAA requests changes Send 55 copies to CAPPR Include 2 PDF copies on 2 CD’s Step 4: Proposal to CAPPR OAA Approves Submit to Faculty Governance at your college.
8 CAPPR considers proposal and gives Approval (Check with OAA to see how far in advance you must send this in to be placed on the CAPPR Agenda) The SED reviews proposal (Can take two months or up to six months) Your new program has been approved and registered! You may now advertise and enroll students. Step 5: CAPPR to NYSED NYSED Approves, registers Program, Issues registration code and sends registration Letter (3-4 weeks later) Presented to the full Board of Trustees For their next meeting, which is approximately every two months SED may ask for clarification or additional information After the BOT approval. Proposal is sent to SED Submit new courses to CUR for approval the next month after BOT approval
