 Academic Advising Policy  Top-Ten Things to Know About Student Academic Policies  Registration Procedures  Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS)

 From ISU’s homepage ( select “MyISU” link and “Dynamically Searchable Schedule of Classes” (under “Resources which do not require Login”)  Select term under “Search by Term” and click “Submit”  Select desired “Subject” from drop-down list, “Course Number” (if known), etc.  Can search for web-based courses  Click “Class Search”

 Can check course availability by clicking on link which includes name of course  Can read course description and check for prerequisites by clicking on “View Catalog Entry” link

 Using “Dynamically Searchable Schedule of Classes”, highlight all subjects by clicking on the first subject and, while holding down the “Shift” key, clicking on the last subject  Select the desired Foundational Studies category from the “Attribute Type” box  Click “Class Search”  Displays all Foundational Studies classes offered for the semester which fulfill the selected category.

 Students can select classes before logging into MyISU to register  Click Dynamic Class Schedule Worksheet link which is available on MyISU login screenDynamic Class Schedule Worksheet  Click “Run” to continue  Select “Subject” from drop-down list  Can enter course number, select “Instructor”, “Distance Education” classes, etc.  Click “Submit”  Choose one of the courses in lower right hand by clicking on it  Click “Add” button in lower left hand box  After adding all desired classes on worksheet, print it to use when registering through MyISU Portal

 Select “MyISU” from ISU’s home page  Enter Sycamore Login and Password and click “Log in”  Click on “Student Tab”  Click on “Add/Drop Classes”  Select desired “Term” from drop-down menu  Click “Submit Term”  Enter Advisement PIN, if required  Click “Submit PIN”

 Students can enter Course Reference Number (CRN) into worksheet, if available, or use “Class Search” link to find available courses.  After selecting classes, click “Submit Changes”.  After registering, students can view class schedule through MyISU Portal “Student” tab by clicking “My Class Schedule.”

 Students with less than 63 earned credits  Must have 63 or more credits in “E-HRS” on first page of DARS  Credits for which students are currently enrolled are not included in earned credits  Students who are not in good academic standing

 Advisors can access Advisement PINS through MyISU Portal  Log on and select “Faculty” tab  Click “Advisee List”  Select student from list and click “View” under “Student Information”  Select appropriate term – Advisement PINS change every semester  Banner screen SPAAPIN can also be used to access advisement PIN

 Priority Registration for Summer and Fall 2011  April 4 th – Seniors - Students with 94 or more earned credits  April 11 th – Juniors - Students with 63 or more earned credits  April 18 th – Sophomores - Students with 32 or more earned credits  April 25 th – Freshmen - Students with 31 or few earned credits  Earned credits do NOT include courses for which students are currently enrolled

 Students in University Honors Program are eligible to register first day of Priority Registration  Athletes are eligible to register one week earlier than earned credits indicate (32 credits are added to their total earned credits to determine date)  Registrar’s Office must process early registration – cannot register early through MyISU Portal

 Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS) is a cumulative curriculum record of student’s progress in completing an ISU degree.  DARS details all of the requirements that must be completed to finish a degree at ISU.  Students may run a DARS for their current degree program or “what-if” DARS for degree programs in which they are interested.

 Log on to the MyISU Portal using Sycamore login and password  Click on “Student” tab  Click on “DARS Menu” link  Click on “Submit an Audit” and follow instructions  If submitting a “what-if” DARS, be sure to select appropriate catalog year

 Log on to the MyISU Portal using Sycamore login and password  Click on “Faculty” tab  Click on “DARS Menu” link  Click on “Submit an Audit”  Select a term and click on “Submit”  Enter student’s ID (991 #) and click “Submit ID”  Click “Run Audit” or “Run What-If” Audit  Click “View Submitted Audit”  Click link to desired major in “View Audit” column

 DARS will list:  Student’s name and ID  Advisor  College  Catalog  Degree  Major  Minor, if declared

 DARS will list:  Earned hours – “E-HRS” - includes transfer hours  Quality Hours – “Q-HRS” - Hours included in cumulative GPA calculation  Quality Points – “Q-PTS” – Points included in cumulative GPA calculation  Cumulative GPA  Transfer Hours (if any)

 Top of every DARS includes a legend explaining all of the codes used:  OK = Requirement Complete  NO = Requirement Not Complete  + = Sub-Requirement Complete  - = Sub-Requirement Not Complete  RG = Registered Course  OPT = Optional  >D = Duplicate Course  >Repeatable Course  >X = Repeated Course

 A completed requirement is coded with “OK” or checkmark  A requirement not yet completed is indicated with “NO” or “X”  DARS states instructions for completion for unmet requirement (number of credits, courses, minimum GPA, etc.) and provides list of courses  Link to course description is provided if run through Interactive Audit

 Transfer Work Summary is at end of DARS for students with transfer credit which includes:  Total number of credits transferred  Course numbers which denote transfer courses that have been assigned Foundational Studies credit: ▪ Quantitative Literacy or Math = 018 ▪ Laboratory Science = 011 ▪ Social and Behavioral Science = 012 ▪ Literary Studies = 013 (100/200) or 033 (300/400) ▪ Fine and Performing Arts = 014 (100/200) or 034 (300/400) ▪ Historical Studies = 015 (100/200) or 035 (300/400) ▪ Ethics and Social Responsibility = 016 (100/200) or 036 (300/400) ▪ Global Perspectives = 017 (100/200) or 037 (300/400)

 Transfer Work Summary also lists for each course:  Term that transfer course was completed  ISU course equivalent  College from which course transferred  Name of transfer course
