Sample: Gavin and I
Frozen in Time Activity What you see here is not a moment, it is a glimpse into a life-long love affair—one sided as it may be. In this instant I’m 18, he’s… who cares! Two concerts, three hair colors, four hours, and five irregular heartbeats later, Gavin and I are finally face to gorgeous face. His arm lies gently and comfortably upon my shoulder in a easy and familiar way. He tilts his head ever so slightly in my direction and I can smell spearmint conditioner in the air. It’s before show time and Gavin and I exchange words about the upcoming performance. “You’ve come out to see me before haven’t you?” He examines, even though he already knows the answer. “Per’aps,” I say. It’s the best I could come up with and my cheeks are still visibly flushed in the photo. My best friend is trying to hold the camera steady and I can’t help but smile until there’s a dull ache at the corners of my mouth. Gavin’s smile is all too endearing and a hint of a dimple forms in his right cheek. Around us are a few early bird concert goers, but they couldn’t be more inconsequential. While two girls eagerly await their turn, another can’t hide the jealousy in her heart. Her envious eyes glare at Gavin and I, as she slowly plots how she can have what we have. The moment tastes of victory and importance; I am smiling because I know that I will remember it always. And I have.
