Samai’s story Sierra Leone

Samai is 5 years old.

His favourite lesson is reading.

He is a very clever boy.

Samai lives with his family in a small village in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone UK

Sierra Leone is a beautiful country with green mountains and waterfalls.

Sierra Leone is also one of the poorest countries in the world.

For six months of the year it is very difficult to find food.

The good news is that Samai’s family can now grow crops on previously unused land.

The food will help them to eat during difficult times in the year.

Things to think about… What do you want to do when you grow up? Why is going to school important? What has changed for Samai and his community? How do you think they feel?
