CLEVER POLLY AND THE STUPID WOLF By Thanusiya Ragunathan

One fine day a girl called Polly was sitting in the living room watching TV while waiting for the shepherds pie which her mother made.

Minutes after, there was a strange knock on the door. Wondering who it might be, Polly headed for the door. Opening the door she was surprised to see a hungry looking creature…

Unexpectedly, Polly asked “Can I help you?” “Yes of course, you’re just the right person who I am looking for!” croaked the wolf. “What do you want ?” asked Polly. “ I’m going to eat you up and what’s that lovely smell?” “Well that is the lovely smell of shepherds pie” the wolf answered, smiling. So the wolf stormed in and ate the pie in one gulp.

One thing the wolf didn’t recognize was that in the pie she added a bit of spice which made the wolf very hot! From that day the wolf never came back ever again.

WHY DO YOU THINK POLLY ANSWERED THE DOOR WHEN SHE KNEW IT WAS A DANGEROUS CREATURE? Did the wolf eat Polly all up or did he run away, because of the spicy pie? Why is Polly called clever in the title at the beginning of the poem?
