Click on an under the sea creature to learn more about it: JellyfishStingrayOctopus Blue Whale Cleaner Shrimp Sea Turtle Starfish Clownfish Review Question!

Jellyfish Jellyfish differ in size, they can be as big as a human or can be the size of a pinhead. Jellyfish don’t have brains. Only some Jellyfish have eyes. A group of Jellyfish is called a smack.

Stingray Stingrays do not have bones, instead their bodies are all cartilage. The Stingrays’ tail is armed for defense. A Stingray’s mouth is on the underside of its body. Stingrays eat mussels, crabs, shrimp, clams, and oysters. They crush these by using their strong jaw.

Octopus A female octopus is called a hen. They can lay up to 100 thousand eggs. An octopus sees the same thing upside down as they do right side up. Octopi like to stay hidden in dark places.

Blue Whale Blue Whale is the largest animal in the world. The heart of a Blue Whale is the size of a small car. They are also the loudest animal on Earth. The Blue Whale eats about 6-7 tons of krill a day.

Cleaner Shrimp Cleaner Shrimp eat the parasites off of fish, coral and other organisms. From this relationship, the organisms have their parasites removed and the shrimp gain nutritional value. To attract a “client” the cleaner shrimp perform a “rocking dance”.

Sea Turtle Sea Turtles are one of the Earth’s most ancient creatures. The Sea Turtle ranges in color from yellow, greenish and black, depending on species. Unlike other turtles, Sea Turtles cannot retract their heads or legs into their shells. Sea Turtles diet includes jellyfish, seaweed, crabs, shrimp, sponges, snails, algae and mollusks.

Starfish There are over 2,000 different species oof starfish. If a starfish gets chopped into pieces, each piece can grow a whole new starfish. Most starfish have 5 arms, but some can have as many as 12. Starfish have no brains and their body contains no blood.

Clownfish Clownfish can be orange, yellow, maroon and many other colors. Clownfish are between two and five inches long. Clownfish like to hang out around anemones because the anemone has poisonous tentacles that paralyzes fish and the Clownfish eat the left over that the anemones does not finish. Clownfish live on the ocean floor.
