Behavioral Health Services Definitions Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT) Largely utilized for patients diagnosed with a major depressive disorder after one or more unsuccessful medication trials. 1-3 treatment sessions are initiated while patient is on the inpatient unit. Post inpatient discharge, patient may receive anywhere from 2-14 additional treatment sessions as an outpatient, based on individual medical necessity. ECT treatment is normally performed 3 times per week.

Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) For adolescents years and older. Program is initially 6 hours per day, 5 days per week- decreased as clinically indicated; during school year, program’s teacher works with applicable school district. Decreases length of inpatient stay by providing aftercare in an intensive ambulatory setting. Prevents inpatient admission- via crisis stabilization, when clinically appropriate, diverting to intensive ambulatory setting. Behavioral Health Services Definitions
