Gangs in the public school system FACTS: ▫School-aged children were at a higher risk of suffering from violence in school than anywhere else ▫Students in schools with a gang presence are twice as likely to report that they fear becoming victims of violence than their peers at schools without gangs ▫Schools with gangs are significantly more likely to have drugs available on campus than those without gangs

Prevention School programs to be set up that inform children about gangs ▫Safety, communication, warning of the dangers of gang involvement “Stop gang violence, before it starts” ▫Prevention starts and home and in early childhood education  Children most impressionable at young age
