Saddam Hussein orders his army to conquer Kuwait. Iraq has the fourth largest army due to the U.S. Kuwait supplies the U.S. with oil

Kuwait was an English colony combined with Iraq. In 1923 it split from Iraq. It was protected by England untill 1961.

 Saddam controlled Kuwait  His forces were surrounding the border Of Saudi Arabia.

 The U.S., Being allies with Saudi Arabia, sent a massive amount of troops to Saudi Arabia.  It was the largest amount of mobilized troops since Vietnam.

 Beginning on January 16, 1991, we began sorties on key anti-air instillations.  We set up patriot missile systems to enforce a no fly zone.  Huge battalions of Abrams tanks pushed through Kuwait. Abrams Patriot missile system

BattlesOutcome Operation desert saber Massive ground attack into Kuwait and Iraq Day one ground attack 3 main targets, Kuwait city, and the left and right flanks of the Iraqis. Day two ground attack Scud missiles from the Iraqis destroys a barracks an kill 28 U.S. soldiers. We still push forward. Day three Ground attack The Biggest tank battle since the Battle of Kursk during WWII. The U.S. decimated the Iraqi tank forces, and lost no tanks in the battle

 Operation desert storm was what we needed to test our ne found military power.  It was also a morale boost after Vietnam.
