KSPAN is a diverse coalition working to improve Kentucky’s core capacity to perform injury surveillance and epidemiology, and to implement and evaluate evidence-based injury prevention and control programs.

From 2000 to 2005, Kentucky had the 6th highest rate of unintentional injury deaths in the United States, with the leading causes being motor vehicle crashes, poisoning (including drug overdoses) and falls. 5

Kentucky Injury Prevention & Research Center Kentucky Safety & Prevention Alignment Network Steve Sparrow Concept for the Kentucky Safe Communities America Affiliate Support Center Assist local communities in developing capacity for injury and violence prevention. Provide injury data, training, technical assistance, and other forms of support to communities that are interested in achieving Safe Community designation. Communities across Kentucky will form the Kentucky Safe Communities America Network to address the burden of injuries and violence. KSPAN will support communities in their quest to be designated as Safe Communities and in doing the hard work necessary to earn this recognition.
