Nov Buddhist lanterns float into the sky, a bullfighter bites the dust, snow blankets the fields of Colorado and Veterans Day gets a somber observance in California.

A girl carries water to her family's residence in a massive building occupied by squatters on the outskirts of Monrovia, Liberia. Many observers feel that Liberia's first free elections in 14 years, conducted earlier this month, have placed the war-torn nation on the cusp of rebirth.

Survivors of a massive earthquake that struck Pakistan on Oct. 8 cross a damaged bridge in Patika in Pakistani-administrated Kashmir on Nov. 15. The 7.6 magnitude quake killed more than 73,000 people, injured 69,000 and left more than three million homeless.

An Iraqi surveys the scene of a suicide bombing that killed at least 33 people and wounded more than 17 at Qaduri Restaurant in Baghdad on Nov. 10. Qaduri is a popular breakfast spot in Baghdad, frequently packed each morning with working class Iraqis and Iraqi police, who appeared to be the target.
