Acupuncture is a process of regulating zangfu and balancing yin and yang. Through the regulation of channels and collaterals and the promotion of spleen and kidney, the body resistance is strengthened and the pathogenic factors in the body are removed out. This process of reinforcing and reducing make the patient’s appetite decreased and the functions of stomach and intestines and the mental conditions improved.
Different syndromes Owing to the deferent individual conditions, the causative factors of obesity are quite different, so the treatment should be different. Based on the differentiation of syndromes, the local points should be selected to circulate qi and blood in the local area to lose weight. Spleen deficiency with damp retention: Mostly seen in the middle aged people, not real overweight although fat Edema, tiredness, heavy limbs, scanty urine, poor appetite, abdominal distention, not-smooth going of stools Deep thready pulse, swollen tongue in light red or pale colour and with toothmarks on borders, thin sticky coating.
Stomach heat with damp retention: Mostly seen in those who have the obesity family history, or those with spleen deficiency and damp transformed into heat Seriously fat, dizziness, distending feeling in head, voracious appetite, aversion to Heat, profuse sweating, thirst with preference for drinks, foul breathing, constipation Rolling and rapid pulse, red tongue with sticky and yellow coating.

Tips The intensity of electric stimulation is started from mild to stronger. In order to enhance the effect, try to use the current as strong as possible. Generally, three courses of treatment should be given in succession. In case the weight is losing, the interval between the courses may be omitted. When the effect is not continuously good, a rest for one week can be suggested.
