He is German painter, wood carver, engraver, and mathematician. He is best know for his woodcuts in series, including the Apocalypse (1498), two series on the crucifixion of Christ, the Great Passion ( ) and Little Passion ( ) as well as many of his individual prints, such as Knight, Death, and the Devil. He also made the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
