WINDSTROKE

HEADACHE

Frontal headache: Du23, GB14, ST44, LI4 Headache on vertex: DU20, Du21, LIV2, LIV3 Occipital headache: BL10, Du19, DU16, BL60, SI3 Temporal headache: GB8, Taiyang, GB41, TB5 DU23, 1 cun above anterior hairline. Open the nose and brightens the eyes Du21 3.5 cun above anterior hairline and 1.5 cun anterior to Du20. DU19 5.5 cun above posterior hairline and 1.5 cun posterior to DU20. calms the mind and opens the mind’s orifice DU16: feng fu, 1 cun above posterior hairline BL10 1.5 cun above posterior hairline, 1.3 cun lateral midline. Extinguishes wind and subdues liver yang, expels exterior wind, strengthens the greater yang channels, clear brain, opens the sense of orifice UB60 jing river point of the bladder. It clears heat, extinguishes interior wind and subdues rebellious qi from the head, removes obstructions from the channel. It can strengthen the back, invigorates blood and promotes labor. It is a distal point in the treatment of backache. It differs from UB40 in so far as it is better for chronic rather than acute backache, and better fro backache of deficiency. Also it benefits for the shoulder, neck and occiput and therefore much used for painful obstruction syndrome of the shoulder, neck and head. This is also due to its effect in eliminating wind , which normally attacks the top part of the body. It also extinguishes internal wind and treat treamor. Owing to tis action being on the occiput and head, it is very much used as a distalpoint for headaches deriving from kidney deficiency. It also effective to clear internal heat from the bladder channel affecting the eye and nose. The empirical use of BL60 for difficult labor is well established and it is a point forbidden during pregnancy SI3 communicates with Governor Vessel, and BL62 with yang qiao meridian. They are a set of the eight confluent points for the treatment of the diseases of shoulder back, lumbar region, legs, muscles, tendons and bones SI3 regulates the Du main and extinguishes interior wind, expels exterior wind, benefits sinews, benefits the eyes nose and ears. 1. It extinguises interior wind from Du mai including convulsions tremors, epilepsy, stiff neck, giddiness and headache. Expel exterior wind and is widely used in attacks of exterior wind cold and wind heat such as stiff neck, occipital headache and aches down the spine and back. This point has also a deep effect on the muscles and sinews along the course of the DU,SI and BL. In combination with BL62 it activates Du mai and can be used to affect the whole spine and back in both acute and chronic cases of backache, it also can tonify kidney GB8 superior to the apex of the auricle, 1.5 cun with in the hairline. It is widely used as a local point fro headaches from liver yang rising GB41 located in the posterior to the fourth metatarsophalangeal joint. It can relaxes the sinews and benefits the back and it is one of the most important distal points for lower backache. It can used for any kind of lower backache, whether acute or chronic, whether excess or deficiency It can clear heat and resolve dampness from the bladder and it can therefore be used fro the symptom of burning during urination. It also cool the blood and it is frequently used in skin diseases characterized by heat in the blood. Finally UB40 clears summer heat and is used in acute attacks of heat in summer causing fever, delirium and a red skin rash UB60 kun lun jing river point of the bladder. It promotes the function of large intestine, it strengthens the lower back GB34: promotes the smooth flow of liver qi, resolves damp-heat in the liver and gall bladder, benefits the tendor, removes obstruction from the channel Xiyan a pair of points in the two depressions, medial and lateral to the patellar ligament, locating the point with the knee flexed.
