Meetings & Outreach In October 2013 Joe Klinger represented the CRCPD at the International Conference on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources in the United Arab Emirates. Joe presented a poster session on CRCPD Programs for Orphan and Disused Radioactive Material Sources. See Joe’s article in the December 2013 CRCPD Newsbrief.

Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. Meetings & Outreach In February 2014 Patrick Mulligan attended the IAEA’s 6th International Experts Meeting in Vienna, Austria. The focus of the CRCPD presentation was the States’ perspective on the response in the United States to the Fukushima accident and the subsequent initiatives that the CRCPD has been involved with to address some of the lessons learned from the response. Bob Lewis, Chief of the Pennsylvania Radon Division was awarded the Radon Hero award at the conference. 24th National Radon Training Conference will be held in Charleston, SC on September 29-October 1, 2014.

Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. RadResponder Network On July 31, E-43 Task Force sponsored a nationwide environmental radiation monitoring drill. Participants from 37 states and 3 federal organizations recorded measurements, observations and imagery within the Networks database. 21,835 radiation measurements and 200 field samples were collected. 132 observations were recorded.
