The Monk and The Skipper Pages: and 133 By: Max Mullen Cody Steele Rachel McCuller Alex Bullard

Questions The Monk, 1. Chaucer seems to agree with the Monk’s attitude toward the rules of monastic life when e says that the monk’s “opinion was good.” What evidence is there to indicate that Chaucer does not in fact, agree with the monk? Chaucer doesn’t agree with the monk, as he suggests the monk is fat and lazy. The Skipper, 1.How is Chaucer’s portrait of the skipper sympathetic? Chaucer’s portrait of the skipper is sympathetic because, it shows the bloodshed and intensity for glory and it shows he took a risk.

Appearance The Monk His sleeves were garnished with fine grey fur. He had a cunningly fashioned pin. Bald. Face looked as it had been greased. The Skipper Carried a dagger. Tan. Beard. Woolen gown that reached his knees.

Job The Monk He was a monk of good Saint Benet The Skipper He was considered a private sailor

Character The Monk Old and strict Had sound views He studies a lot He was a fat and personable priest The Skipper Paranoid Prudent Ruthless towards his prisoners

Likes and Dislikes The Monk Enjoyed Greyhounds, hunting and horses. He also loved to eat. The Skipper Enjoyed sailing and naval warfare He dislikes prisoners of battle

Tones The tone of the Monk is Straightforward and mocking, as Chaucer uses details of the monk. He states “He was fat and personable.” The tone of the skipper is straightforward as he explains the skipper’s past. For example “He came from Dartmouth.” The narrator is blankly describing the actions of the skipper.

The Zoo Keeper

There was a zookeeper, from San Francisco, He goes by the name of Roscoe. He drives his only love a gator. Speaks as if he was Darth Vader.

He wears button down shirts with a collar; That cost about a dollar. His pants are two sizes too small. His only friend is named Paul.

When not at work he’s at home; Usually all alone. Speaks to the animals all morning long; He even has the monkeys playing ping pong.

All the kids know him as Mr. R, He’s always at the penguins sand bar. Takes his job very seriously. He is sometimes seen walking around the zoo mysteriously.

However lonely his life may seem, Roscoe has a great personality.
